Mold is a micro-organism similar to mushrooms and yeast. Mold is ubiquitous and is part of natural decomposition processes, and thrives in areas where there is sufficient humidity, dampness, and organic material.
Mold reproduces through the production of spores, which can be harmful if inhaled. In fact, sickness from mold is one of the most common health issues in North America. Negative effects on people exposed to mold spores can include allergic reactions, irritation, breathing difficulties, and infections.
The objective of mold testing is to determine if fungal growth is present in the building.
Mold Testing Objectives
There are two objectives when it comes to commercial mold testing:
Verify and locate if possible, the existence of fungal contamination with the goal of intervening as fast as possible to decontaminate the building and correct the situation that is causing the contamination
Advise clients and occupants of the building of the potential health risks if contamination is detected and direct them to health resources

Commercial Mold Testing in 3 Steps
ORTAM conducts commercial mold testing using strict quality assurance and quality control procedures, and methodologies based upon recommendations given by the Canadian Standard Association.
1 - Site Visit & Sampling
Our qualified personnel visit the building and collect interior spore samples to verify the indoor air quality, as well as exterior air samples for comparison to achieve the most accurate testing.
2 - Humidity Measurement
Moisture and humidity levels are measured inside the building to gain a complete picture of the situation.
3 - Analysis & Report
Based on the samples gathered, we will provide a fully analyzed report from an accredited laboratory within 7-10 business days of the visit.
